Glassdoor review of the week: Santa Cruz Biotechnology

I really like the detail about the single in-house handyman, not that I've ever seen an organization like that...

More here.

  1. I think making up fake reviews for your products should be an instant red flag to people working there.("Yes, I know they're dishonest, but they won't screw me. Really.")

From what I know of Wal-Mart, it sounds like Wal-Mart has more opportunities for advancement than SCB.

  2. I think several of my antibody-using colleagues would say Walmart has a better reputation for providing quality products.

And then there's the fact that SCB just wound up *very deeply* on the wrong side of the USDA--as in, largest fine of its kind in agency history....

  3. Any idea as to who owns SCBT? I tried to get that info. from public resources but drew blank. Thanks

    1. See: http://www.metroactive.com/papers/cruz/07.18.96/biofarm-9629.html

"John and Brenda Stephenson are the sole owners of Santa Cruz Biotechnology, a local antibody manufacturer headquartered on Delaware Street."

    2. OK, sorry, I may not be right - that is a really old reference.

    3. According to this 1996 article, its a couple named John and Brenda Stephenson. The company is still privately held, but you are right. There is a lack of information on ownership with a cursory internet search.

    4. Gee, with that reputation, I can't imagine why ownership wouldn't broadcast their identities over the Internet. I guess that's what shell companies are for.
